The legend of the ''Eikša Lake''
The Legend of Lake Eikša and Its Healing Power
Long ago, when the hills of Latgale were still forming, a gentle water spirit named Eikšs lived among the Feimaņi heights. He protected peace, balance, and the quiet strength of nature.
When people in the area grew restless and their hearts heavy, Eikšs decided to create a place that would heal and restore them. He touched the earth, and from its depths sprang a clear spring that grew into Lake Eikša.
As the lake was born, alders began to grow along its shores — trees gifted with the ability to absorb negative energy and return clarity and calmness to those who sought it.
Soon people noticed: if you arrive with worry, the lake washes it away. If you come burdened, you leave lighter. The alders take in the tension; the water gives strength back.
And so a belief arose — still alive today:
Lake Eikša heals the mind, purifies energy, and brings peace to the soul.
